The Village Hall is host to a wide range of community activities run by local voluntary groups. Anyone can join or simply attend the regular events.
They include:
- Oxnam Valley Voices Community Choir - all you need is a love of singing!
- OWLS - Oxnam Water Ladies - fascinating talks with tea and coffee and homemade cakes, and an annual concert; not just for ladies!
- Oxnam Quilters - the clue is in the name but also for any texiles crafts! Currently two vacancies - there is a maximum number as this group needs space for their sewing machines!
- Library Cafe - tea and cake again, coinciding with the Library bus visit. Just turn up!
- Film Nights at the Oxnam community cinema, free entry - donations welcome to cover hall hire.
- Oxnam Water Community Council holds its regular meetings here.
- Oxnam Kirk uses the hall for a range of craft events and social gatherings.
- The Oxnam Resilience Group harnesses the power of community volunteering, organising litter picks and first aid training, based at the Hall; support for individuals in need during bad weather/snow.
- Community Defibrillator - on the outside of the Hall for use in an emergency.
- The Hall is classed as an Emergency Centre and we have sheds with the community’s sandbags and snow shovels.
- Polling Station - for local, Scottish and UK elections.
- A range of whole-community events, including Quiz Nights, Suppers and community BBQs, organised by the Hall Trustees.
All these community activities bring people together in this very rural area, helping us to avoid social isolation. We also take bookings for private functions, children's birthday parties and funeral teas.
